Finally another blog! We have been busy working our jobs, juggling teens, working in the garden, painting the living and dining room, piano and doing everything in between. Time just flies! Writing a new blog has been on my to-do list for a while and now I am sitting down and writing it! As you can see on our main page you can rent our backyard and our house. Our house and backyard have a long history as a farm and after selling off a lot of the agricultural land has been used as a family home. The house is surrounded by 4.5 acres and that’s plenty of space for us. We are right outside of Marshfield, Wisconsin. We have the great benefits of country living but have all the convenience of Marshfield close by. We love our house and garden and would love to share it with more people. One of the ways is by renting it for photo and video shoots.
Our house is known by a lot of people in the area. The owners before us used to host weddings here. They would rent out the house and the backyard. The house was usually used by the bridal party to stay in the night before the wedding and on the wedding day itself to get everyone ready. The ceremony would take place in the backyard and reception/dinner/party as well. That’s a lot for us to take on, leaving the house every time we have a wedding booked and keeping everything super clean and tidy. So we are not taking that on, but starting small as a photo and video location. We would love to host some small events in the future like a farm to table dinner, art presentation, tea party or classical concert. We feel we are not ready for that yet but if you have an idea you can always reach out to see what we think and if we are up for it.
The yard has been landscaped with ornamental trees, has unique buildings, firepit area, wooded area, ornamental grass, vegetable garden, flower beds and a front porch. Every season the garden looks different. The daffodils and apple blossom in Spring, colorful flower beds in Summer, tall grass and gorgeous fall colors on the trees in the Fall. Even with snow on the ground there are still enough photo options. The fire pit area is ideal for a family photoshoot. And did you see the unique log cabin? And the blue shed just gives that pop of color as a background. Can you tell how I love my garden?
The house has unique elements like a spiral staircase, old woodwork, stone fireplace, and all kinds of unique elements you can play with in the background of your photos. The house has a lot of natural light streaming in but you can also bring your own lighting equipment of course. The house is very unique and has a lot of options. Prom photos have been taken on the staircase and in front of the fireplace, as well as headshots were recently taken in the living and dining room.
We have lived in this house almost 3 years now and as always with a house and garden there are always needs and wishes. In the future we hope to add to the garden a greenhouse, a wildflower garden and maybe even a Japanese garden. The house we are still making into our home. Making a home takes time and there are lots of things on our wish list to make it the way we like it. So keep an eye on the website where we will keep you up to date on the things that we add or change to the garden and house. I promise I will try to write blogs more regularly. Our Instagram and Facebook page is where you can follow along on the projects we take on.
For now we have renting going through Peerspace. They have a great user friendly platform with an easy booking system. Why invent something new while it already exists, right? On Peerspace you can find the garden and house as a separate listing. This makes it easier for us to get ready for your bookings. You can also find what is and isn’t allowed when you rent one of our spaces. Click on the button button below to visit our Peerspace page. If you have any questions or special requests, just send us a message and we will get back to you asap.
